Howdy! My nickname/blog name is Texana. I’m an ex-pat Texan living in North Carolina. And I am behind the curve on food blogging, but my intent is to make up ground quickly.
For a few months now, I have been content to simply search out others’ blogs, but last fall I decided to begin a project that had long been in the back of my mind—to write a family cookbook for my children and grandchildren.
Well, what’s a cookbook without photographs of the food. And to get photographs, I have to make the recipes, so I might as well share the process with the world. So thus was born Confections of a Carboholic to chronicle (mostly) my baking.
Many of the recipes here will be old family favorites. Some will be newer recipes I have added to my repertoire. Hopefully, all will be delicious and will inspire my readers to get in the kitchen and bake!
Right now, the header on my home-page is a photograph of Sausage Kolaches, or pigs-in-blankets as they are known in other parts of the country. Popular in Texas, particularly in Czech settlements, they are definitely one of my family’s very favorites, so stay tuned–I’ll make them again, perhaps when the kids all come to visit.
Have a nice day !
